Founded by Douglas McClennahan, a prominent gun designer who had worked for Colt, High Standard, and Sturm Ruger, Charter Arms has made its mark in the gun industry with the production of their flagship revolver – The Undercover. Weighing just 16 ounces, the five-shot revolver was the world’s smallest and lightest steel framed revolver with the fewest moving parts. Further innovations have included a unique hammer block system to prevent unintentional discharge and cylinder lock up in three places instead of two for additional safety and strength.

Operation of Charter Arms has been carried on by lifelong friends Doug McClennahan and David Ecker since 1967 when Ecker became a 50/50 partner in the company. Today all Charter Arms revolvers are completely American made with 100% American parts owned by an American company.
